Objective
The three years Distance Learning Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) Degree being conducted by The Global Open University, Nagaland has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in the fields of information technology and management, computer programming, internet operations, computer applications, business communication, logic design, data structure, systems analysis computer architecture, windows and server administration, data base management etc.

Award

Study Materials
Printed lessons will be despatched from the Central Despatch Unit. The assignments will also be sent to the admitted participants periodically. These assignments will be completed by the participants as an integral part of the BCA Degree.

Confirmation of Admission
The Admissions Office will issue the money receipt and send confirmation letters to all admitted participants within ten days from the date of the receipt of completed applications alongwith first instalment of fee and copies of certificates and testimonials.

Examination Scheme
Each paper is of 100 marks out of which 30 marks are for internal assessment based on performance after submission of assignments where as 70 marks are for written examination to be held at different examination centres in and outside the country.

Project Work
All admitted participants will be required to complete Mini Projects for each of the subjects of the BCA Degree on a relevant topic related to the concerned subject / paper in partial fulfilment for the requirements of the 30 marks allotted for assignments. The Mini Project Reports are to be submitted semesterwise. Accordingly four Mini Project Reports are to be submitted for each semester before appearing in the semester examination.

Bachelor's Thesis
All admitted participants will be required to complete and submit a Bachelor's Thesis on a relevant topic related to computer applications. The Bachelor's Thesis based on the data collected from primary and secondary sources will be submitted for evaluation. Conducting and completing the Bachelor's Thesis is an integral part of the BCA Degree programme. The topic of the Bachelor's Thesis may be related to one of the following or allied subjects and areas although the topics are only illustrative and not exhaustive. The university will be pleased to guide the final year students of the BCA Degree programme in selecting the topic so that the same is approved by the Examination Department.

Practical Exercises
All BCA students must ensure that they buy their own computers for their practical exercises and for learning through virtual and e-learning exercises provided to them from time to time besides designing their own software packages for the purposes of the University with a view to strengthening their knowledge regrading software engineering.

Summer/Winter Placements
All BCA Students shoul try to get summer/winter placement of two months duration from 15th April to 15th June or from 15th October to 15th December in reputed public / private sector organisations. The The Global Open University, Nagaland will be pleased to isue letters of recommendation to such undertakings.
