Objective
The three years Distance Learning Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Degree being conducted by The Global Open University, Nagaland has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in the fields of information technology and management, computer programming, internet operations, computer applications, business communication, logic design, data structure, systems analysiscomputer architecture, windows and server administration, data base management etc.

Confirmation of Admission
The Admissions Office will issue the money receipt and send confirmation letters to all admitted participants within ten days from the date of the receipt of completed applications alongwith first instalment of fee and copies of certificates and testimonials. The identity card and lessons will be despatched within a month.
Examination Scheme
Each paper is of 100 marks out of which 30 marks are for internal assessment based on performance after submission of assignments where as 70 marks are for written examination to be held at different examination centres in and outside the country.
Project Work
All admitted participants will be required to complete Mini Projects for each of the subjects of the MCA Degree on a relevant topic related to the concerned subject / paper in partial fulfilment for the requirements of the 30 marks allotted for assignments. The Mini Project Reports are to be submitted semesterwise. Accordingly six Mini Project Reports are to be submitted for each semester before appearing in the semester examination.
Master's Thesis All admitted participants must submit a Master's Thesis based on a topic selected by them and approved by the University. Submission of the Master's Thesis is an integral part of the MCA Degree Programme. The participants may be required to undergo an internship / attachment with any organisation having facilities of computer and information technology applications for enabling the participants in undergoing the training for acquiring necessary skills and for preparing a Master's Thesis to be submitted in fulfilment for the requirements of the MCA.
Practical Exercises
Students of the MCA Degree must ensure that they buy their own computers for their practical exercises and for learning through virtual and e-learning exercises provided to them from time to time besides designing their own software packages for the purposes of the University with a view to strengthening their knowledge regrading software engineering. |
